Ssp Changes April 2025 – Ssp will increase from £116.75 per week to £118.75 per week. The changes will mean up to 1.3 million people on low wages who find themselves ill will either receive 80% of their average weekly earnings or the rate of statutory sick pay which will be £118. These are as follows and will take effect from 6 april 2025. This will increase to £118.75 in april 2025.
Ssp costs to business currently are around 0.06% of total spending on wages annually by businesses. When it comes into force, the employment rights bill will give employees the right to claim ssp from the first day of being sick, and 1.3. This follows on from an increase in april 2024, from £109.40 per week. The changes include no waiting period (employees will be eligible from the first day of absence), removal of lel (people earning below the lower earnings limit will be eligible for ssp), changes in how much individuals are paid (a percentage of their earnings or a flat rate, whichever is lower), and an increase in the ssp rate starting in april.

The weekly rate of statutory sick pay (ssp) will be £118.75 (up from £116.75). This increases to around 0.09% of total spending on wages as a result of the proposed reform. The new limits for unfair dismissal awards and the new redundancy pay rate (yet to be announced) will apply.
